The reality of spending weekends getting all gnarr at trailcentres is one left for day dreams for the time being.
Soo to get my adrenaline fill I've been doing more exploring locally.
This has usually needed an OS map and nothing much more than my Camelback.
The "thing" is its a PITA having to keep getting the map out of my CB.
So whilst I don't want a map reader I could do with some for of [s]wicker basket[/s] bag for my handlebar of similar.
Any suggestions?
For just a map, you could use a maptrap.

For road-touring I use a bar bag (Carradice) with a klik-fix fitting:

I've got an Ortlieb one.
It's really good, looks like this one, but all black:

I use mine with flat bars and it's been fine.
One of the most useful bits of kit I've got, tbh.
Use mine for wallet, camera and other bits and bobs for local rides & a bit of touring.
The Carradice ones are just as nice and British too.
