Thinking of going this weekend but wary of it being icy as hell. Trails as well as the access roads.

Any locals care to comment?

-2 to -3 last sunday and it was OK as there had been no rain or snarr and lots of wind.

This weekend - no idea, but we've had rain today. And yesterday.

Just park at Bedburn if you are that bothered, have a Santa Cruz and a T5/T6.

Thanks all - no Santa Cruz or T5 I'm afraid so it'll be the regular pay and display car park for me 🙂

On the way into work this AM - 1-2cm snarrr at Tow Law, and flurries of sleet through Copley on the way to Barnard Castle.

Nothing that would put me off. I'll try to remember to update tonight after I get home.

This is a local joke, as are questions about weather, discussions of air ambulance at K-Line etc... 😀

Join the Hamsterley Riders FB page for more but bring a big bag of salt !

If you’re suitably prepared for mud/slush/ice you’ll be fine. Just take it easy on K-Line first time down, it tends to encourage speed that bites you if you aren’t ready for it and ice isn’t going to improve that!

Lethal is the word unless you like biking on ice ..headed out on the black route..the root 666 where normally there are puddles was an ice rink ..funnily enough Andrew ..Russell's 15 yr old son never missed a beat ( unreal !)
Advised by members of Hamsterley Trailblazers not to attempt K-line when we got there as it was just sheet ice ..Transmission being the same ..but we were directed onto an unofficial trail or two which kind of saved the day as it wasn't too bad in the shelter of the trees .
Accelerator & Nitrous weren't too bad at all ..
Disappointing as I was the only one of our group who had done the new section previously ..but rather be at the table on Christmas day instead of in traction on a hospital ward 😀
Still a worthwhile trundle out although the Threlkeld / Skiddaw route last week was a breeze in comparison ..

I’ve been on grippier ice rinks, it was dreadful.

Blimey - I decided not to go and was feeling a bit pathetic, but now I feel much better!

Was perfect on Monday.... That video is hilarious/painful! I was out on the moors just north of it today and they too were covered in ice. It was fine on the bits where the snow was over an inch deep but there was a lot of tripoding on some sections!
