Anyone ridden one? Been offered a good deal on one and I'm quite tempted! 2021 model with SRAM NX gears and Rockshox 35 Gold forks.

Thoughts?

Got a 2001 frame handing in the shed, the one with world cup stripes on it. Fastest bike I ever rode, also the harsest. I imagine this isn't of much relevance to your decision.

Is that the blue and yellow one with the SIDs and XTR and Crossmaxes? I always wanted one of those!
Also no help to the OP.

I’ve had a few but the best was a 99 LE in cosmic sunrise. Awesome bike I should never have let go.

Still have a 2012 Zaskar team frame as my soon to be obsolete turbo bike, although that doesn’t have the provenance of the early ones.

Newer ones even less so tbh although doesn’t stop it being a good bike.

@csb If it’s the white LE frame with blue and red stripes going near the head tube - want to sell it?

I built up a 2006 Zaskar a good few years ago. Toras, XT everything, and 26x2.5 High Rollers. Felt like I was at Laggan on it every weekend! I loved it so much. Rode it once again about five years ago and it was the harshest and most cramped feeling thing ever. It's currently on loan to one of my pals. Got a 2013 Zaskar 29er on the cycle to work scheme and it was shit.

With my user name it would be wrong not to comment... 🙂

Still got my 96 LE, many bikes have come and gone in my life, but this one will never be sold. I'm sure compared to more modern stuff its crap, but it took me through some of the best riding in my life including numerous evening 'Beastway' events.

It Still rocks in my world...

Lad up the road used to have a ~92 Zaskar LE with Mag21s and later some Yellow Judys, Lots of purple anodised bits got added to it looked best when he chopped in the bar ends for a dead straight polished USE bar with Purple Onza grips Christ I was jealous... so much purple.

I eventually got a pair of those grips, they really didn't last...

@milky2341 based on the comments, before you buy, you might want to think about who you want to be in 25 years time....😉

These days they should be referred to as zino's.

I've also been looking at the '21 zaskar but tempted to get the expert as it has better forks than the 35's albiet heavier.

I had a late 90s blue zaskar with SID XC forks. Took it everywhere inc the Alps. Looked the dogs bollox but battered my spine to bits. Thems the days...

Didn’t they review one on here last year (or maybe they just did a press release for it)?

The current ones ie 21/22 era have a decent functional spec, ride really nicely and not overly heavy c30lbs with pedals.

Really decent and comfy ride imo but not enough to pull me away from the whyte 90x series.

GT got it well dialled with these bikes. Good frame fit across the size ranges too.

Being offered one at a decent price then go for it.
