If you can't control your dog don't take it out. Not difficult to grasp. I shouldn't need to account for you owning a dangerous animal you have no control over.
Rant over, some people are assholes, some dogs are assholes, occasionally you get one owning the other - you said it
A dog must be under control in a public place. It's the law. End of.
Those clearly weren't and it needs referring to the Police.
He needs to rebrand himself, I'd have been a darn sight mire grumpy.
yep. Obviously this is hugely stereotypical, but IME 100% of “freestyle” karate/kickboxing club owners are nobs with seething pent-up-rage and short man syndrome, and just live for the opportunity of giving someone a “deserved” “slap”.
They're the UK equivalent of the US 2A nuts, probably own way to much military gear, have a weird obsession with the Army although never served a day, overuse the word patriot and phrases such as 'by rights' & 'I don't mean to be/sound {insert ism/ist}, but..'.
Mouthbreathers to a man/woman.
Typical dog owner, causes chaos because they havent trained their dog then just walks off after the incident with no comeback.
Is that really ‘typical’ of a dog owner, or are you just being a bit of a dick?
Unable to keep their website up too
I wonder why?
Really scary how on earth did he just keep calm and not try to kick / punch the crap out of the things? they were really going for him amazed he just stood there for most of it and stayed so calm. Ive had an german shepard go for me when I was running and had my wrist in its mouth a very very hard kick to the stomach saw it let go and a triad of abuse and threats about vet bills from the owner. I'm sure it was 'just playing' but thats not much comfort when all you can see is teeth coming straight at you
Can things like this be reported on behalf of the victim? Its in the interest of public safety after all

My bold. that's what you meant to say right?
Can things like this be reported on behalf of the victim? Its in the interest of public safety after all
Yes. In the same way if you saw someone being assaulted you'd report it.
Wow. That's pretty scary!
My daughter (7 years old) is very wary of dogs & it's mainly because of people who don't realise that their dog might be scary/intimidating to others & let them run up to other people.
We've had a few incidents when out with my daughter, when a large-ish dog has come bowling over. I like dogs and am used to them. My previous behaviour in these situations was to try & re-assure my daughter, engage with the dog & be as relaxed around them as possible.
But more & more frequently now I pick her up to get her away from the situation. Having a full sized labrador/German Shepherd/spaniel/Whippet come haring up to you when you are only 4ft tall must be pretty intimidating.
That bloke was amazingly calm - it was almost like he didn't really click with what was happening at first.
As someone said earlier, you could hear the anxiety in the woman's voice saying 'please stop please stop' because she could see what was about to occur.
We had to give him up after having to come home from work to rescue the OH from the field* where some asshole of a woman was going mental at her for having an “out of control dog”. Of course he’s “out of control”, you’re stood there screaming and pointing at him and his owner
so your dog was out of control because the woman was screaming and pointing at his owner OR the woman was screaming and pointing at his owner BECAUSE the dog was out of control (and the woman was probably shit scared)?
Which came first? I've shouted and treatened people with dogs, but not before the dog started having a go at me for no reason apart from being in the same vacinity on a bike.....
Train your dogs or don't take them where other people might be, like outside!
The worrying thing for me is how long it takes the owners to sort the dogs out. Lack of collars clearly doesn't help.
TBF to the dogs they do look like they're interested at first, then I think the pack mentality kicks in and they get aggressive.
But yeah if they were my dogs, they would be on a lead all the time when out in public.
Ours is a big pansy but I'm always consious that as a reasonably large black dog people can be wary or scared of him.
I used to be the same as I got chased by a collie as a kid and had to take refuge up a climbing frame. Looking back it probably just wanted to play, but as an 8 year old you don't understand that. Only got over the fear when we got family dogs as older kids.
If you can’t control your dog don’t take it out.
I knew someone with a lab with some sort of mental disorder which meant it was a complete loon and could randomly snap towards strangers. Spent its time being walked at quiet hours and even then muzzled.
Those dogs definitely need handing over to someone who can care/train them properly since wont be long until they are a dangerous size.

Yep, been there with mrs_oab in uncontrollable tears and an owner telling her to calm down and ignore the bounding pair of hounds. We apparently were unfair to expect a dog to be called or popped on a lead for a few moments - and yet it was apparently OK for the muddy dogs to be leaping up at us and trying to lick mrs_oab's face. Our polite requests were ignored - and then of course as the couple and the two dogs walked on the personal, foul and discriminatory abuse was thrown.
Some people you just cannot fathom.
so your dog was out of control because the woman was screaming and pointing at his owner OR the woman was screaming and pointing at his owner BECAUSE the dog was out of control (and the woman was probably shit scared)?
I might be wrong, but further on his description he suggests that the woman had approached his dog and tried to smooth it, and the dog didn't like it.
Jesus, that's bad.
Those dogs need putting down. Pity that option isn't available for their owners.
Bad attack - from the women’s initial call out she knows they are out of ck trail and there could be an issue. On that basis they should not be off the lead - end of discussion. Ideally knowing they bite some muzzles would also be in order until the dogs are fully trained / safe.
I’m a dog owner (just about - she’s a small pathetic white fluffy thing with no aggression towards people or other dogs) so I get dogs can be a bit random sometimes - but in this scenario the woman already knew there would be an issue - so this probably isn’t the first time there’s been a problem with these dogs.
Since the covid lock down I’ve noticed a big uptick in dogs that have behavioural issues - my main assumption is they haven’t been socialised with other dogs / people and / or put through basic training due to the lock downs. Our dog was bought in 2016 and we did ‘puppy parties’ with her at the vets from very young so she got used to being around other dogs and people in an enclosed area. I then did a course of training to get her obedience up / walking nicely etc.
On my dog walks now there are some very aggressive dogs towards mine (who shows no interested in them and is quite submissive) - there’s a teddy bear looking thing that I assume is a cockapoo or similar - without fail it has a massive barking lunge at my dog so I give it a wide berth.
Then there are a couple of boxxers that almost pull their owners over trying to get to me / my dog.
Then there’s another even bigger hound - no idea what it is but it’s quite a scary looking thing that I literally cross over the road to avoid as soon as I see it. Again it’s straining against its lead to get at Molly and the owner struggles to hold it back.
Scary stuff - although at least all of them are on leads.
I might be wrong, but further on his description he suggests that the woman had approached his dog and tried to smooth it, and the dog didn’t like it.
Well that makes a bit more sense but the woman was probably still very scared. I can't be arsed with an argument though, Some dog owners just don't appreciate how scary it is when a dog is barking and snarling at you for what seems like no reason.
****ers in the video shouldn't be allowed to keep dogs though as they clearly can't handle them.
That is crazy dog owner behaviour. There’s no way they didn’t know their dogs could behave in that way yet they still let them off the lead in public. You don’t have to have a dog long to know what it’s going to do. The biker was amazingly restrained, I’d have gone mental, even as a full time dog facilitator. My GSPs are completely friendly but I still keep them from waggling around other people.
**** me that's a bit scarey.
Had a few incidents myself but nothing that bad.
Had a Ridgeback go for us once when out with Mrsstu. Pulled its owner over and she let go of the lead.
It then started biting Mrsstu's handle bars.😮
TBF she handled it really well and calmed the dog down herself while the owner was rolling around on the floor.
Not a single word spoken to us or the dog from the owner...
Unlike the owner of a collie the other week.
She took offence at me asking her to call it off and put it on a lead then after she'd reluctantly done that started telling me it was my own fault for being on a dog walking path. It's actually a core path so everyone is welcome.
Then she started filming me and accusing me of kicking her dog and said she was going to report me to the police...
I gave her my name but they never showed up.
Love dogs but some owner are worse than useless.

It's not hard to find the owners on FB I wonder if the mtb'r has reported them yet ?

What a weapon.

[sweeping generalisation] The little spaniel brown things that look like they've had a tight perm? They seem to be the most aggressive/badly trained dogs I meet., either that or it's a pretty popular breed and it's observation bias [/sweeping generalisation]

I am not one for public pitchforks like that - best use the proper channels for justice.
The new thing around here seems to be gang dog walking under the guise of some kind of 'club'. In actual fact it is just safety in numbers for irresponsible owners who might end up getting a dressing down from riders or walkers otherwise. The first you normally see is a couple of rapid medium sized collie-type dogs running and play fighting, then a massive ****er like a wolfhound lolloping around, then a pack of yappy terrier type dogs at the end. Oh, and bringing up the rear, a long way behind, a gaggle of smug-looking owners daring you to say something. There will be an accident one day - if it is me, I will be going down swinging.
Based in Barwell. Explains a lot.
@nickc - yeah the cocker spaniel / poodle cross type dogs seem to have a lot of energy and almost all the ones I come across seem to be barely trained at all.
We’ve got a bijon/ King Charles cross and she goes in spurts of energy but is less annoying in general plus I put quite a bit of time into getting her behaving acceptably for the most part. Still never cracked her jumped up at people coming into the house so generally shit her in the other room when new people come in until she calms down.
I think people often think you have to walk a dog for miles off the lead to tire them out - but 30-60 mins of intensive training (making them concentrate) is far more tiring for them.
generally shit her in the other room
I think that counts as negative reinforcement 😀

"small man syndrome" is a real thing, especially in dogs.
They don't get a complex because they're small (look at dogs play fighting, you'll absolutely see a terrier try and take on a Great Dane, or Rottweilers that are terrified of small dogs being loud, they have no concept of size), but small and/or "pretty" dogs body language gets completely ignored by people. Imagine if every time you got angry, people completely ignored it and continued to pet you, picked you up, dragged your lead around rather than resolve the situation. Contrast to a big dog, the first time they snarl at someone, the person backs off, the owner steps in, and everyone calms down. Which is why you get great big friendly Rottweilers and American Bulldogs, and Dashounds that go full Karren at everyone/thing.
Dogs breeds seem to find trends - Eg Huskies after game of Thrones. I'm not sure where Malinois came from but there seemed to be a recent spate of them.
Friends daughter has one - bought from a puppy farm during lockdown just before daughter got pregnant. It's destroyed the house as they can't give it the mental stimulation it needs. Thick headed boyfriend won't give it up as it suits his bad boy image. There will be an accident with child/dog at some point.
There are a lot of shit dog owners I try and make up for them whenever I can with my dog.

Be awful if someone were to ask if that's good for fighting off dogs
Watching that as an ex postie I don’t think my defence would have worked there . I used to put my bike between me and the dog and run at them shouting and growling but in this case there’s just too many of them . A lot of people considered a standing joke postie being bitten , not funny in the slightest 😡😡😡😡
As has been said the panic in the woman’s voice at the beginning it’s clear she knew what was coming.

🤣🤣🤣 Looks like a comedy sketch!
As has been said the panic in the woman’s voice at the beginning it’s clear she knew what was coming.
And highly likely to have exacerbated the dogs behaviour.
This is completely unfair. Its your ******* dog, not theirs.
In slight defense of reactive dogs,
They are talking about the dogs and reactive dogs in general not those owners.
I’m not sure where Malinois came from but there seemed to be a recent spate of them.
They became popular for military/police use a whilst back. Apparently due in part to finding good german shepherds is hard due to the really dubious breed "standards" meaning the poor things are born crippled.
The idiots who need to have the hard dog of the month seem to have noticed that and so they are now trendy in those bad boy circles.
Poor dogs will be traumatized 🙁
The dog owners have disabled their own website!
Good grief. I expected an exaggerated thread title and a quite-tame-in-reality video. But good grief. I hope the rider is ok. He could easily have been badly hurt - the dogs were jumping and aiming for his face at times. I’m still a bit shocked from watching. Luckily it wasn’t much worse. I’m a dog owner, but I don’t know how anyone could defend either these dogs or the owners. Shocking.
I think it's Cannock Chase - looks like the stepping stones at the bottom of Sherbrook Valley

+John Wick - ah okay that's why I've seen more of them.
Scary situation for the video and absolutely shit dog owners. You can rent caged fields for not much money to let hunting dogs/chase instinct run about - why take them somewhere public with bikes/horses/other dogs?
I have left a Google review.. Awaiting feedback from them

Who let the dogs out?
