Just watched it last night - pretty interesting - I wasn't following cycling at the time so I learned stuff that probably everyone else knows ...

Hinault was a bit of an arsehole

Lemond was out of competition due to being accidentlally shot by a relative

He had been sexually abused as a child

Fignon was a weapons grade tosser

Fignon lost the '89 tour due (in part, obvs) to an infection in the gentleman's equipment

Most of it is pretty well known but was still an interesting docu, the Delgado perspective made it a bit more interesting.

I think like all top end everything, those at the very top vying for number 1 spot will be a bit of an unpleasant character to many.

Story told entirely from the perspective of Lemond and his wife.

He’s a great cyclist, but he whined about everything: Fignon, Hinault, other French riders, the French in general, riders attacking too much, Italian riders in general, Ciapucci attacking too early, Kelly attacking too late, sprinters making the flat stages too hard for GC riders.
The only contemporary he seemed to like was Bugno for some reason.

If you read Hinault’s account (not just the quotes selected by Lemond) you get a very different perspective.

Just watched it. Nothing new but still enjoyed it. Definitely marked the end of an era. Worth an hour or so just to look at those beautiful bikes

Read Fignon's autobiography definitely one of my favourite cycling reads.

I'm sure Hinault being a bell end and Lemond being a bit whiny could both be true at the same time 😄

Is it a new production? From the description I feel like I've seen it before, but as mentioned- this era of cycling has been documented to death.

I wonder if anyone’s worked out whether if Fignon had  used the same aero bars as Lemond he’d have made that 8 seconds up. The stage was 24km averaging 55kph, must be a handful of watts at that speed, surely would have been enough

Is that not the general consensus

I'm sure someone worked out if he'd cut his hair he'd have won. But I don't know how true that is

Yep, not a fan of Lemond at all.

Chris Froome is going the same way - a truly phenomenal rider who is now just a whiny little bitch.
