I'm interested to hear your favourite flavour of general purpose grease for bike use.
I've had a 450g tub of Fuchs Renolit aqua 2 for about 10 years which I liberally use to repack bearings and grease the occasional thread when working on bikes (especially mtb). As I near the end of the tub, I wondered if folk have a preference as I'm sure things have moved on.
I'm looking for something waterproof (bearing repack is priority), resists washing out, sticks like s**t to a blanket but isn't too 'draggy'.
A pretty colour is a good option (blue?) as you can't really tell if things have gone rusty/manky if the original grease is a manky colour to start with!
Smelling nice is a plus, but not too fussed about taste;-)
Any suggestions?
Mobil XHP 222
Fuchs/Silkolene RG2 for bearings, Mobil 222 or Castrol Spheerol EP2 for ratchet & pawls, copper grease for threads.
Another vote for 222.
Used to use RG2, now using Maxima. Little to choose between them. The Maxima might very well be repackaged 222.
Just looked up the Mobil 222 and it looks good. The blurb on the Mobil website certainly ticks all the boxes. It's even blue!!!
Thanks for the replies so far
