I'm looking for a new more compliant saddle to stick on the gravel bike. I've been using a fizik Antares but it's a touch firm for when the going gets rough.

I'm looking for something with engineered wing flex etc rather than extra padding or gel as weight is an issue.

And ideally not something with lots of gucci lazer printed holes that will fill up with mud.

I use a brooks cambium (carved) coupled with a canyon s15 vcls seat post.
Have you considered a seat post with a bit of flex?

Another Brooks Cambium (c17 for me) fan here. I’ve got mine on a Cane Creek thudbuster ST4 as well which is great.

What model Antares?

I might be in the market for one, for my gravel bike funnily enough!

Could maybe even negotiate swap/PX for my Selle Italia Flite Boost Gravel although it pretty much relies on padding and I think some small elastomers for compliance.

I stuck a rattling old Thudbuster on for a gravel event this weekend, was very nice, am sure it helped me take some weight off arms and hands as well

oh and p.s. in my experience there aren't many saddles that fit like an Antares, they leave more space around the back of the thighs. Selle Italia Flite (not SLR) and the Specialized Power Arc are the safest bet for a close match in shape.

+1  for brooks Cambian (C13 here), I use one on the xc MTB too - just a little narrower on the gravel bike (143mm)

The bike is fitted with a 150mm pnw dropper so flexible seatpost aren't an option. I was looking at the sram axs but it's eye watering expensive for 75mm drop as you can set it in suspension mode but the drop didn't seem enough for the really steep stuff I sometimes hit.

The Antares is the 00 version, DM me if you're interested in @13thfloormonk

Brooks Cambium C15 here mated to a Brand X dropper for when the going gets really rough

Bit heavy but id rather have a slighlty heavier saddle than a sore arse

Your normal saddle and a redshift pro shockstop post?
My review of the original post, pro version is lighter https://ukgravelco.com/redshift-shockstop-suspension-seatpost/

I had a friend visit recently and lent him my gravel bike for a 30-mile ride. He wasn't wearing cycling kit but said the saddle was the most comfortable he'd ever tried. It's a Pro Stealth (which range from £50ish to £200 for carbon etc). I've got them on all my bikes.

@tomahawk

PM'd, but I think that's too nice a saddle for my budget or intended use! 😢

Brooks is the most popular saddle brand on the Tour Divide, so they must be doing something right

I just put a cambium c15 carved on my bombtrack hook extc instead of the Oem saddle. It’s a loan saddle from woods Cyclery and they offer a long trial for a deposit. It’s a bit heavier than the saddle that came off by 100g or so but what’s 100g in the real world? It’s only really an issue if you add 100g to every component. 100g is a few muesli bars or half a small water bottle. You won’t notice it unless your obsession is about the weight of your bike rather than how it rides. But I guess this is STW!

Edit - it is really comfy. I haven’t even noticed it if you know what I mean.

as weight is an issue.

Is 100g weight saving really more important to you than the main comfort point on your bike?

I like to save weight across all my bikes but a saddle, especially on a gravel bike, should be designed for comfort above all else and the weight is almost an irrelevance to me.

Just buy a brooks.

I use a Prologo kappa evo on my Diverge. Happy to be sat on for 50k plus rides. Price is quite good too, and there are different width's to choose from too.

Op I had an Antares OO saddle before. Great saddle and wished I not sold it on. I get on very well the shimano pro stealth saddle, and would recommend them.

On my Boone before a 200k gravel Audax.

The cambium c13 are also very good but I find the pro stealth a flatter saddle which works for those moments where you don’t quite get your bum off the saddle as you hit an unforeseen bump.
