Did a Long Mynd, Shropshire GPS route today and almost got into some real trouble...
Started OK but had trouble following the route. Long Mynd has some serious steep valleies and I found myself, determined to get onto the GPS route scrambling down a dangerous bank, trying to save myself and bike from crashing big time, only to find when definately on the prescribed line the route had been PC plotted rather than laid down real time.
Is there a way of filtering the ****t routes on the file sharing sites?
its not a sat nav.
dont follow it blindly like a delivery driver bouncing down a bridleway to a a cliff edge.
FFS - use a bit of sense and learn to navigate properly.
reminds me of my Grandad saying "would you jump in the fire if I told you to?"
the great god gps.....

yeah, don't be a ****t and download them
I tracked my regular local loop with this device and then navigated it. The experience was good.
I loaded this route into Google Earth and on very high scale you can see the line tracking the exact route. There's no room for error, every one of my wobbles are there.
The route I followed today is totally wrong, impossible, no track/route there whatsover - route says go up sheer mountain..etc.
This was saying turn left into a gourge - impossible to ride. It just didn't work
Helpful constructives from the usual suspects then
Maybe look at the route on Google Earth before setting off then instead of following a route randomly downloaded and unchecked?
troll?
