I want to protect the top tube from scratching (the inner, gear, cable runs along the side)a new frame.

Will G.T. do the biz or will I regret it if it needs removing later?

I imagine it would work because it's very tough but it would look minging.

Lucky for you they do a clear repaid tape that should be much more suitable.

A roll of helitape isn't that expensive on ebay though.

I use amalgamating tape, cheap, easy to apply and change when worn

I've tried gorilla tape on a frame.

It definitely gets worn down faster by chain slap etc.

Also.... It leaves a white glue on the frame which is an utter pig to remove!

Helitape lasts better and removes easier in my opinion.

Gorilla clear tape works really well.
