Any one recommend a good frame below £300?

Obviously one one are popular, but they seem to be getting either too expensive or a bad press.

Got all the bits, but want to go fully disc, current set up is rigid forks, front disc, v back. frame 15 years old!

thanks
simon

On-on are very popular, but 'bad press', from where?
Yes the 456 carbon is getting slagged for looking at bit shite but no-one's really ridden one yet to slag them ride/longevity wise .
Otherwise the normal 456, std inbred and scandals get good reviews for being great value for money , maybe not the best frames in their class but still solid and cheap.

Off-hand I'd suggest a inbred or scandal... but you haven't suggested what frame material you'd prefer (if any). Inbred are steel so are not the lightest, scandals are ali and their optimised for 100mm forks, so your rigids should work on it better then most newer frames (or buy some newer cromo rigid from on-one to match if your are a bit short).

Isn't the Dialled PA £270?

I'm very happy with my recently built up Inbred but the upgrade itch is starting to get to me again.

I bought a Rocky Mountain Vertex frame off a shop that was going into receivership on ebay. £150, very happy with it. Bargains to be had if you look around.

cheers everyone, my point about on one is that they have risen in price, quite a few times; with no discernable new features/improvements; i think the inbred has gone up by at least £40.

i want a uk designed one and possibly steel.

will post when i finally get one!

But five years ago, the 456 was £225.

On-One, used Soul, or Dialled PA? (Or Sanderson if you can be bothered waiting.)

How about a Rock Lobster or MALT from Merlin?

Both the steel and the ali Lobsters ride very nicely indeed.

I'd try and get a test ride though as they can be a bit short for some people.

Apologies to brant and everyone else.

having been riding nearly all my life (and never learnt to drive or owed a car) and owned 4 bikes in this time; some observations.

we had a big hit of american and canadian bikes; but what has happened is british designed frames and bits; specific to our conditions. orange etc kicked it off.

also cheapness; allowing for people to bodge, find invent, adjust to what is needed.

like condor and various road racing builders of the 30's to 70's we have a strong home grown set of builders and designers innovating and showing everyone how to do it( grahame obree washing machine builds).

meanwhile; who designed the classic kona/rocky mountain steel frame? you know the shape.
