Hi Folks
Advice required. I've got a chance of going to The Golfie at Inners tomorrow and I've been watching some videos and I'm now a bit nervous.
In comparison to Brown Trout and Super Steep at Glentress, which are right at the upper edge of my ability, comfort zone and enjoyment/fear ratio.
Am I just going to hold everybody up by walking/falling down the trails or are they of a similar difficulty/steepness to Brown Trout, etc. ?
I can do without the "just try it, you'll end up a better rider" type of help. I'm quite happy with my skill/fear levels.
Cheers
If you can handle broon trout and super steep you'll be OK at Golfie, similar steepness just longer and more plentiful.
There's not much that's really miles above broon troot, mibbe wolf of wall street, it's pretty steep. I'm about o it the same level as you by sound of it, It intimidates me too, but after a few runs I'm finally fine.
There's a good mix of stuff from "easy" to hard
If you can get down BT you'll be fine.
3g, repeat offender and flat white are all straightforward
Waterworld, jawbone and walk or burn at the harder end. Nothing massively difficult though with maybe the exception of the rock garden on Jawbone
Put it this way, I struggle with BT but get on fine at the golfie
Cheers folks
Feeling better about it now.

Agree with this. Others are a step or two up in steepness and tekkers.
The trails are exceptional - as the others have said, just a lot more sustained than the steeper stuff at GT.
How's the weather up there? I do find the Golfie stuff v hard in the wet. My first time up there was a bit of a why do I even own an enduro bike? moment - the trails were soaked, I didn't know them, and stuff like jawbone is hard.
OTOH I've been up there when they're running well and you feel like a boss, riding everything.
Good to get your eye in with some of the more accessible stuff that folk have mentioned.
Community service is also a nice easy introduction to golfie trails.
Wolf of wallstreet isn't though as Mrs stu found out...
Stay well away from No Social. Still have nightmares about that particular trail
Bar 10 feet flat white is pretty easy. 3g is great fun. Rest a bit bonkers but you adjust quickly once you start riding them.
This is all good stuff, notes are being taken.

You do know it's the British Enduro Series at the golfie tomorrow? Repeat Offender and Waterworld out of action.
Go and ride:
Flat White, to warm up
New Wolf, to get your eye in
Jawbone, to get over the other side - it's hard, but it'll be dry
Feed the Pony, to have some fun
Have a cake and coffee at the walkerburn cafe
Pedal up, do Community Service
Finish on Final Fling
That's a good first day.
I did not know that, thanks.
And thanks for the route advice.
I have been riding the Golfie for about a year now, off and on. For me Broon Trout and Supersteep would be equal to the entry level Golfie trails. I would go for New Wolf, Repeet Offender, Flat White and Greg's Joliffe (spelling?) as a good intro. Should be nice and dry so that will help.
Enjoy!

They were used today, they are racing on the uplift hill tomorrow
Ah! Didn't realise it was a two day event, thought it was practice then race over sat and sun.
Well then, that changes my suggestions.
Flat White, to warm up
New Wolf, to get your eye in
Repeat Offender, to understand what the Golfie is all about
Boner, to push your level a bit (amazeballs in the dry)
Feed the Pony, to have some fun
Have a cake and coffee at the walkerburn cafe
Pedal up, do Community Service
Finish on Final Fling
Awesome guys.
The collective intelligence of STW comes through again
Very dry at the moment. Work been done on Boner and Spanner; catch them when they tip-top nick! No Social is hard but stays dry (steep +exposed to the drying wind) and hardly gets ridden (infamous 20mins of pain push up!)
Yah, I love no social but it is such a bastard to get to, can't be doing with that. Chairlift!
I always seem to do community service, 3G, and Jawbone as "my first golfy". The wolves are great but as soon as I'm up to the turnoffs for 3G etc then waterworld I find it pretty hard to go higher tbh. Get yourself over to Thornielee as well! Awesome stuff there.
The real trick is figuring out which ones work best for you in the wet and in the dusty dry, some of them work great when wet as they go crunchy and cementy, tons of grip, some go orrible and crumbly in the dry and are harder than when they're wet, some go very soggy. Lots of variety up there.
