[#1074730]

after reading a few posts about people umin and arin between an alpine and a five am i have decided to share mine with the wold. i really do love this bike, sure it dosent climb as well as the five and the coil and oil front and rear make it heavy, but if you live for the downhills like me this bike is the bomb. and the tweaks on the 2010 models make it even better. if you suffer the ups for the downs get one. also a bit miffed mbuk didnt have it in this months 160mm test rigs. amazingly they went for trek! they do have favorites dont they.......

ps yes i know its dirty......[img] [/img]

Nice. How much does it weigh? Standover height looks good on the new Orange bikes too. Does it bob much on climbs?.. I guess its equivalent to my SX Trail (about 34lbs) & im fine climbing that up at trail centres etc...its worth it if the going down is good! I'm a coil spring fan too...never had a totally reliable airshok. Nice to be able just to get on a bike & ride & not having to check air pressure etc.. A Ti coil spring brings the weight difference fairly close too..

i could shave more weight off it. its coming in at about 36lbs ish. this is the freeride model and well pimped. the am model is they only one on offer this year. i really want the new swing arm with the better cable routing. have a look see http://www.orangebikes.co.uk/bikes/2010/alpine-160/ but it will cost about £600 just for the arm. if your thinking about an all mountain rig the alpine should be a contender.

my wheel set is the dt swiss fr2350s. yes they cost and arm and a leg, but they are super stiff and double strong and red.

Looks pretty pimp - are the rotors big enough though? 😛

183 front and rear. i have been thinking about a 203 for the front but hope wont make me a gold adaptor (i begged) but the techx2 breaks are really very powerful. i didnt like them at all to start but now they have bedded in there amazing.
