[#10813873]

I may need a new rear mech if the repair doesn't work. (Inside plate broke in two after clattering down some rocky bits, so I'm trying to fix it)
It's a Deore XT RD M773 & the pulley wheel bolt holes are 95mm apart. Doesn't mention SS, GS or SGS anywhere on the mech, but It's not a short SS one.
Question is, is it a long or medium cage? I've got a 36 tooth big sprocket on the cassette.
Help!

Also, can I use a clutch mech even though I'm still old fashioned & using triple rings on the front?

sounds like SGS to me. Definitely won't be SS as that's a road size (small cage). GS (medium cage) will be fine for most 1x setups, and SGS (long cage) for 2x setups. You can use si.shimano.com and productinfo.shimano.com to find the capacity of the mech in terms of tooth difference between small and large sprockets etc.
Your 36 sprocket will also have an 11t small so that's 25t difference (aka capacity). add your front chainring difference to this (usually 16t) and you'll get capacity. Look it up on Shimano for the answer. looks like GS allows an 18t difference at the front and SGS is 22t. Both max out at 11-36t on the rear.

https://productinfo.shimano.com/#/spec/MTB/Rear%20Derailleur is the page you need

You'll be wanting SGS for a triple setup

Arse, just noticed triple rings comment. Yes SGS is your answer and yes you can use a clutch but it'll make shifting slightly more clunky. Stick with 10sp though and use https://productinfo.shimano.com/#/com?cid=C-432&acid=C-433 for compatibility info.
