Gluing frame protection rubber?

I'm replacing all the bearings on my Pivot Switchblade and I'll need to re-stick the DW link crud catcher.ย  It's just a rubber flap that bridges the front and rear triangles with the dw link itself, basically a thick inner tube type material.ย  Surface is either painted carbon or invisiframe over the same paint. It's not perfectly smooth on either side given that it was previously glued and I'm hesitant to aggressively clean it.ย  So what to stick it with, I'm favouring a clear silicone as that is flexible and probably pretty inert?ย  Thoughts?

3M VHB double sided rubber tape.

I used it to successfully remount the downtube protector on my last bike after it kept falling off.ย

My whole e-bike is held together with it.

On my painted carbon frame (matt, smooth) I used a copy of 3M tape - the genuine one was much more expensive when I looked last year. However, it only worked well once I'd used an adhesion promoter on the (cleaned) patch beforehand - 3M 4298UV in a tiny bottle from a bloke on ebay.
