I am off to Peebles for a week from 29th November and wondered what the trail conditions are currently like? Any diversions on the red?
Does the black still have closures? Is it worth doing if there are ny?
I have never ridden Golfie, are there any longish xc trails as I don’t really want to “session” numerous d/h trails
I will do Gypsy Glen so anything similar would be on my radar
Thanks
For xc riding a few routes on here www.bikevalleytrails.co.uk
Highlights for a nice ride out are 3 Brethren, Glen Estate, A loop from SUW into Manor Valley , plus a few shorter choices on there.
edit: and of course Gyspy Glen u mentioned above.
I couldn't tell you about diversions. I think the pie run might be closed as we've been doing a lot of work on it and not sure if the rangers have finished it. But there's so much riding at GT I would never consider doing The Red or The Black as such. It's always a mix n match depending on what we fancy. The Golfie is very much winch and plummet enduro style but there's some great entry level trails. Repeat Offender is great fun and not too stressful, NY NY is similar but a bit more chattery and I always feel a bit knacked by the end RO seems more slowly. Flat White is worth doing at least once. Wardell Way is really flowy with a slightly exposed feel, don't be put off by the nadgery start in the woods, it's quite intense if you're not used to steep rooty trails but it's over quite quickly. Trailforks is you're friend but all those trails are fairly close together.
Red and Black are still "diverted" at Buzzards to avoid upsetting the SUV set in the new cabins. Ignore the signs and just ride through.
Black still officially reroutes to the red at the mast, but its possible to use Five Year Plan then Mild Peril to make a decent loop of it.
Inners red xc is still a decent loop despite the large amount of forest road, and now uses Angry Sheep as a diversion- tip- if you do this, turn right at the bottom of Angry Sheep, climb back up and ride Bye Driver- lovely flowy singletrack and one of my favourites

I'm sure I saw the sign pointing up the fireroad through the cabins is back in again the other day.
I just go around the back of the cafe and up the no entry fireroad anyway regardless as it's quicker.
As above there's loads to go at at GT without sticking rigidly to one marked route.
It's more of a mix and match place than a follow a set route place.
There's absolutely loads of out there XC type riding in the area.
I'm sure a friendly local with time on his hands could show you round if you were to ask.

Good news- diversion is still listed on the FLS website though. Maybe someone removed the diversion signage, I know I've been tempted!
I'd happily show off some of the lesser known stuff, but I'm flat out at work and so unfit I'd be a hinderance.
