First trip to glentress in a year so not sure what’s rideable and what’s not and taking a mate who’s new to mtb so think blue would be best place to start. Can anyone suggest a route from the main car park taking in mainly blues but then maybe up to spooky wood/super g/hit squad hill then onto new blues to finish. Any help is greatly appreciated

You could just do a couple laps of the blues around the Buzzard's nest as warm up, but this is a bit of a faff at the moment because it's shut and theres a muddy and long diversion.

The new taster trails are really quick to lap so I'd recommend doing those a few times as a warm up.

What I would do is just head straight up to the top of SW, it's essentially the same as the other blues if the drops are avoided and the old trails are not busy these days so can take your time generally. You can then work your way down Super G etc, and it is easy enough to traverse over the new trails from around there I think. Or you could just carry on down Fala Brae to the bottom then switch sides and do the new trails after.

Dunno if you have done them but the new top red trail - Twitcher - is probably not a place to take a beginner so make sure you don't accidentally do that one. The new long blue is class though.

Blue/Red up to Buzzards Nest and the steep diversion trail straight up through the old freeride park. Right at the top past the start of Berm Baby Berm and spin up that fireroad for a bit until you come to the red climb up to Spooky Wood. Could do the blues/reds from Buzzards Nest up to that point but its pretty much all pretty mundane climbing so may as well just get it out the way and smash it out on the fire road.

Maybe if you're feeling up to it, keep going past the top of Spooky Wood to the mast and then come back down to Spooky Wood. Really nice, mega fast drop down for not a lot of extra climbing.

Agree about spooky woods. It's great and the chicken runs are all obvious.

After SW take a left to join the blue, a great fast flowy section awaits, can't remember the name.

Unless they've changed it in the past 2 weeks, that's not possible - the area fenced off for chalet development is tight to the end of BBB. The diversion is to the east of BBB and is a steep/muddy climb using a walking trail, spitting them out at the top of Blue Velvet - you can then head right along fireroad direct to SW climb.

Is berm baby berm open at the minute.

It was 2 weekends ago - with a revised entrance. All good. Diversion mentioned above makes it hard to do loops of it though like was possible before.

Urgh, maybe best to stick with the red/blue diversion then rather than a muddy push.

OP, depending on the skills level of your mate, I'd do Spooky Wood/Super G/Hit Squad Hill and then Pie Run (thats the awesome little hand cut section tight in the trees isn't it??) & Magic Mushroom. Then re-join the first climb on the blue/red and either go right back up to Buzzards Nest and come down the blue or veer off at the bridge near GoApe and down from there. I might be in the minority but Berm Baby Berm always makes me feel a bit "meh". A few washed out berms and rollers... definitely not worth looping around and sessioning.

Nope.
It's still the same.

The diversion hasn’t changed. Goes past the bottom of BBB rather than the top. It’s well marked with yellow signs. The new bit of blue is great, particularly if you like swoopy bermy trails. And I do.

Steep track by berm baby is shut, so diversion along old red to bottom of superg. It's all a bit "loved" at the moment and needs tlc. If you do spooky, take your waders and an open mind 😄.

Was up at the mast on Sunday as nearly got blown off the top of Caberston, there's a tree across the access road upto mast but can limbo it.

Blue from bottom of spooky was also closed and don't suppose your mate would be loving mudnroots as alternative!

Id perhaps stick to the old blue from buzzards then do laps of the new stuff. Should be comfy for someone new as surface is smooth. Does get busy though.

Magic mushroom was also shut when I went to go along it on Sunday if you were thinking of lapping it.

Cademuirs running well at the mo, although would check for downed trees first with TVTA.

Have a fab time!

Speaking to a workman on the gate at Buzzards the other day.
The current diversion is staying in place until November when they hope to be finished.
