So we're staying about 20 minutes from Glenlivet bike trails.
Got a pass out to go, what are the trails like?
How long does the red take?
Will be taking my daughter on her bike.
Mrs & dogs will hang out at the café - so as long as that's decent too she'll be happy.
Thanks
Cafe ? They do a nice aperitif here, whichbis close by.
The word that stuck in my head for the original red and blue was "generic", it was all perfectly nice but it could have been any trail centre anywhere and the red was barely red. I didn't have much good to say about it tbh, never planned to go back even if I was passing.
But they've really done wonders since that wonky start (I think different management?), Bazza's Berms is a great blue frinstance, and the handcut stuff adds so much variety without being the sort of leap into the unknown that trail centre offpiste can be. Fantastic for looping back and options and such so I actually haven't a clue how long a lap is 🙂 As long as you want it to be I think. Plus mini dh and bazza's berms both loop from the trailhead if you've got spare time/leg. OTOH it can be a bit confusing for the same reason, I felt like every time I looked at the map I came away knowing less not more but just following the signs worked out.
Haven't been there since the newest stuff, but that's OK because I can't jump and it all looks like death.
Visited with the family earlier this summer. Can't comment on the red but the kids enjoyed the blue and Bazzas Berms was fun. Cafe was nice too. There's a downhill trail which we didn't do but I'm told by friends is good.
I used to live nearby, ride down and do a lap of the red before a coffee, cake and ride home - about 45-50 minutes for a loop of the red. There’s been a lot more trail building in the last couple of years, plus the extended cafe outdoor seating area - pancakes, bacon and maple syrup was a favourite.
It's changed a lot over the last few years. Back when the blue/red XC trails were the only thing there, you could be forgiven for riding it once, then never wanting to come back, as it was all rather 'samey'.
Close in to the cafe you've now got Bazza's Berms, Mini DH, Keiron's Line, Orange jump line and the skills area (plus the original, rather tired pump track). Away from the cafe, there's also been a load of building, so Daimh Hard, Glenduro, Grey Matter etc all make the long climb out much more worthwhile.
I was there yesterday and have ridden there quite a bit over the past 6 years, with it being just over an hour away from us in Inverness.
Lots of trail development going on there and some bits of off-piste single-track appearing all the time.
Cafe is great with good coffee and hefty cakes.
My son, now 11, and I absolutely love it!!
He's gone from just about managing 1 lap of the blue (with a bit of assistance from "the hand of Dad"), to 2 laps of the red and launching off of all of the jumps on the way down yesterday.
Glenlivet never disappoints.
I quite like it. The red is a bit of a drag with the switchbacks and the swoopy stuff through the woods the only really highlight. Good training though if you need some miles/climbing in the legs. The blue, despite being fairly tame I find to be actually good fun in a 'just nail it' xc kind of vibe. The orange is great if you can jump and fun even if you can't (me). Bazzers Berms is superb and you'll want to do it again and again. the Mini-DH is ace, just beware the massive drop!
Good cake and food too. Worth a few hours then call past the distillery on the way home!
Went with the wife and kids 2 years ago. Did a lap of the blue altogether, with me towing the boys in the trailer, then they all hung out in the cafe while I spanked myself round the red. Maybe not a destination bike park, but if you're staying not far away and you've got bikes, it's well worth a visit.
Older stuff is a bit tame by current standards but great for chasing mates down without worrying if you are suddenly goi g to run into the back of them. For me the blue isn’t quite the same since the trees went, lost a bit of sensation of speed.
New stuff is great and easy to loop and repeat.
As others have said, the cafe is probably the best trail centre cafe around.
No brainier to visit is you’re just 20 minutes away.
50 minutes for a full lap of the red is some going it usually takes me a hour 50 to 2 hours!
As a family ride, we like the blue as it's not up-then-down like most trail centres, it's more undulating with smaller climbs/descents, but still a good one to finish.
Bazza's berms is probably the best bermy/kids track I've seen, our 8 yr old loves it (if not the fire road climb back to the car park).
I've only done the red once, a couple of years ago. IIRC, it was more of a very long blue, with great views & a very long flowy descent.

Yep, the red descent goes on and on, very flowy when you get down into the woods. Great view from the top:

Thanks all.
So around 2hrs for a lap of the red then - sounds ok.
Will see if we manage to get there on this trip as my Wife is currently in Raigmore Hospital with a really bad kidney infection ☹️.
