[#2822884]

Got the day off this Thursday and we were heading off to Dalby for a days ride, but the LBS said that we would like Gisburn which is Nearer and faster to get there. We have been to Dalby a few times now, but just wondered what other members thought of Gisburn and whether we should change our plans and try it?
Thanks!

Try it deffo.

Shorter than Dalby, so you'll probably want to ride it twice, but it is great. I enjoy it more than Dalby as I don't feel so battered after I've riden it.

Rode the blue yesterday in me sandals, having left shoes at home - that was interesting

it was wet, but no real mud, surface drains quite well, just watch the puddles, quite a few are deeper than you expect ๐Ÿ™‚

Twas very wet up there yesterday but not particularly muddy. There's been a lot of repair work on various sections recently. Just watch Hully Gully after the big (30ft) berms, the trail has collapsed into the gulley just after the stone pitched descent.

Dalby has facilities, whereas Gisburn has a cafe type van in the car park.
I think you'll work just as hard riding Gisburn as its slightly flatter. There are certain sections of black that you can just session over and over.
Both are really enjoyable, however its always nice to try somewhere new.

Have to say I was dissapointed with Gisburn when I went a few weeks ago. Some of the sections were fantastic, the bottom loop is really good, but the top loop was terrible.

It was pouring down at the time, which didn't help, but lots of it seemed in need of repair work, which I understand is underway.

Dog and Partridge in Tosside is worth a visit for food and ale. Quality boozer (sometimes with irregular hours) run by nice people.

It's a different type of thing to Dalby but equally worth trying. Only you'll know if it's your bag. Personally, if you like riding a bike I think you'll be happy ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's got good and bad points in terms of surface, construction, technical features, etc. Just like many other trail centres. Ultimately whether it matters will be up to you too.

If I were you I'd try it and see ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Make sure you do the shoot run if you go.its not sign post but a great little test of nerve.follow the fireroad just beyond the big gap jump and it's on the right at an opening

Excellent, volunteers built much of the bottom loop by hand, Rowen Sorrel designed the upper loop! To be fair it flowed much better when first built, it's more technical at the moment (although people have also moaned recent repair work on the climb before the crag is now too easy..).

Van in the carpark has unfortunately ceased to be but I too would heartily recommend the D & P for ale, food and excellent comapny (Tim the landlord is currently helping to build a new freeride section).

It's worth popping back as we're always adding new section, we're currently working on another nice bit to remove more fireroad on the bottom loop, some info about it on www.pmba.org.uk

Had a great couple of hours riding Gisburn. I'm very pleased I decided to try it out. The red/black sections were brill. If you can, give it a go especially the Hully Gully run.

last time I went down Hully Gully, a few weeks ago, part of it had collapsed down into the stream below.

Hully Gully has now been repaired (again). The collapsed bit has all been reinforced. How's that for service (done by the FC and one of our voulunteers).
