Evening.
Hope to have a couple of hours to spare after seeing a mate in Skipton tomorrow or next day. I see Gisburn is quite close..... so if you only had a couple or 3 hours spare, were not as fit as you should be and hadn't ridden off road for 5 months, which bits would you ride at Gisburn?!
Looking forward to it, so want to make the most of time there.
Cheers.
The half of the loop nearest the main car park is definitely the boring half. The far end is better. I'm not sure if there's a shortcut you can take/somewhere else to park. You should still get around in three hours though, riding the whole loop.
park at the dog and partridge, tossside for top half. 3 hours would easily see you all the way round. my favourite bit is home baked which is part of the bottom loop.
You should be able to get around the whole thing in 3 hours from Cocklet Hill with enough time for having plenty of breathers. I generally take a bit under 2 hours, and I'm not exactly racing.
If you're forced to choose, the upper loop starting from the D&P is probably more fun heading downwards, with Hully Gully, Slab and Bottoms descents, whereas the highlight of the lower loop is Homebaked, which is superb.
Aye, 3 hours should be plenty. Took us 2.5 hours last week at a very social place including 20 minutes playing on the Hope Line
Just do the full red route and push up the one big hill. As above parking at the pub will probably be the best way to do it so the push is only the last bit. The whole route is only 11-12 miles but it does feel more.
Marvelous stuff, thanks chaps.
Looking forward to it (even if it r**ns)!
