[#1223392]

Anyone know what the situation is at Gisburn for the weekend? The FC has a pretty generic -closed- for all North West forests but Delamere, but isn't very detailed.

If that's not ridable, what are the conditions for the MBR killer route out of Slaidburn (SP?) likely to be instead? My guess would be pretty horrid.

Keen to find out as well. Temp is higher now and rain forecast for 48 hours so hopefully the snow and ice will melt

Not sure. Probably very very wet. I did hear a rumor that Hully Gully would be closed in January for trail repairs anyway.

Stumpyjon of this parish is the man to ask. He'll be along shortly.

Try ringing the Dog and Partridge as suggested by Ed-O yesterday:

[i]Phone the Dog & Partridge at Tosside for an on the spot trail conditions update.

Currently raining near Skipton and the slush melting away.

Rollercoaster would be interesting if it were icy...

Anywhere round there is going to be either snowy/icy, or really wet and horrible (or some combination of the two), and I suspect the trails at Gisburn will be pretty ****ed even if they are clear.

But what do I know, I haven't ridden my bike in months.

Oh it is... I fell 'off' it last time I was up there - about the 15th of December. I'd say steer clear of it if there's ice on the ground.

hi , the proposed maintenance on the hully gully section did not happen due to the weather so it should still be open if you can find it under the snow

its still a mess ..largly covered in either ice or snow.
the bits that are solid ice are lethal & the bits that are turning to slush are even worse as thre is solid ice underneath.

As Tezzer says, Rollercoaster/Hully Gully will be closed for repairs and resurfacing as soon as the snow goes. The original plan was for it to be closed in January, but I guess that plan is fluid at the moment.

or it will be fluid when all the snow melts , to be honest the top loop will be a mud bath for the next few weeks and probably best avoided

Went anyway. Pretty much unridable right out of the carpark. ๐Ÿ™„

as no doubt are the trails. Based on the thaw I would guess it should be OK in another few days, not much snow left, even at height south of there. I hope so, haven't been digging for ages, getting withdrawal symptoms and acting funny, did 64 miles on the road bike today ๐Ÿ˜• , ironically actually rode through Rivington and stopped at the lower barn for a bacon butty. Got some weird looks off people, couldn't decide why. Could've been:

a) I was on a road bike at Rivington.
b) I was on a road bike wearing mountain bike gear.
c) I just look weird.

was there this morning, offloaded the bikes, got kitted up and then saw some blokes that had gone out come back and report that it was rubbish.

Put the bikes back on the car, went home and rode in the city, steps, benches etc

made a nice change !

Has to be said though that what we walked over looked ace, there was pretty much unanimous agreement that we'll try again later in the year.
