I have 2 giant frames, one MTB, one road. Love them. Except their fetish for seatpost shims. How damned annoying? MTB creaks and seizes. Road bike slips continuously despite clamping lightly, firmly, death crush...

Agreed it's a bit crap but why not just fit a correctly sized seatpost of your own it it's that much of an issue for you?

Tis a mahoosive design flaw and requires expenditure of another £100 on my bikes just because they seem to like shims. How stupid considering it's like that from the factory.

The giant I had many moons ago (an AC) had a shim. I bought a 'proper' sized post and it wouldn't go all the way down due to some funny internal tube shaping, but the thinner, shimmed post did!
