Hi
Recently got back into riding again after several (many, many) years away from it. Started of with a real cheapie, just to see if i still enjoyed off road, trails, etc. (I did) Got the bug again and want a better bike. Im sold on two bikes, entry level Cost around £650. Torn between a Marin 29er and a Giant 29er....what do peeps think. Im led to believe there is no comparison and I should get the Giant? Am open to all suggestions. Ride around Welwyn Garden, Brox, etc and noticed a lot of peeps on here are from round here too....hope to be riding with you soon (when my fitness levels improve!!!!!)
Post links of the specific bikes please.
Why not get a 2nd hand bike ?
I could sell you a really nice full-suss for a bit more money than that.
Good stuff caroak.
I doubt either would be a dog to be honest mate.
I'd probably go with the Giant but check out Trek also.
Too many unanswered criteria to suggest anything specific, but I suggest you get a test ride on one or more bikes to try them out and see if you like them.
Most of the mainstream guys are doing 29er's at more entry level price points these days, most of them are pretty good bikes. Just to confuse things, have a look at Specialized, Trek, Whyte, Merida and any number of other manufacturers that also make 29er's!
not too good at posting links, but i think this will work for the Giant...

I would rather get a new bike, just cos its gonna be new really, all shiny and stuff
Thanks for the suggestions guys, Know any good shops in the area? (welwyn, Cheshunt, Brox?)
Meanwhile I will have a look at Trek
This is the final contender I think......

Giant have a store in Radlett if you need a test ride.
Specialized have 3 29er demo days this month
I have an Giant XTC 29er.. They only do the one model as its Alu and the rest are composite.. Reckon it's a frame I can add to over time with improved kit..
I think it's a great bike, good luck with your new one!
