So long time cynic, thought I'd give ghetto tubeless a try.
1 x 20" tube
2 cups of stans
1 michelen dry tyre and en521 rim
Poof! Tubeless in the blink of an eye!
Bit scared to ride it now, only did the front as this is a trial
Yeah - you might want to reconsider testng on the front. Cos when tubeless goes bad its Poof! Tyreless in the blink of an eye!
It'll be fine, just carry a spare tube
And remember if you do ever need the tube, you will have to remove loads of thorns from the inside of a tyre covered in goo before fitting the tube.
Just check your pressures every now & again on your first ride with a thumb squidge.
First time I converted to tubeless and then road in Spain I got a few punctures that had sealed, but I'd lost quite a bit of pressure. I thought it was still OK, but traversing a large rock slab, the tyre rolled off the rim, due to the low pressure and I came down with a real crash....
Now I'm even more nervous, full face xc for the next few rides!
Had my first tubeless outing last night; not ghetto, used tubeless ready tyres with Stans rim strips.
No problems and no noticeable loss of air, well happy I'm converted.
