Can it be done safely?

Rig has a internal headset and the total headtube+headet stack height is about 110mm

Maverick website states minimum for DUC's is 135 ish

Any thoughts?

The Rig appears to be designed for a 80mm travel fork, won't the 6" DUC mess up the handling? (even after you've reduced the travel to cope with the 29" wheel).

Apart from upsetting the handling, you could well be invalidating the frame warrenty if its not designed for a triple clamp fork like the DUC.

Is the DUC a true triple clamp fork though? It doesn't have a steerer tube or proper stem mounting like 'normal' triple clamps

The duc is a pure xc fork, even with the high rise crown it it quite low for a 150mm fork but still gonna be too much IMO

I suspect the 135mm head tube length stated is to handle the leverage that the fork puts on it. I'd be worried about the head tube getting ripped off, but having said that on a SS are you likely to be riding BIG?

Would be good if you could talk to Trek. The original 69er had a DUC fork and I wonder what tube lengths they had on the small size frame of that bike?

the travel is reduced to about 105mm for 29ers

the issue seems to be the loss of "effective" tube length due to the internal headset

its a shame they went that way as the colour matches the old 69er DUC's
