Ok so watching John on Countryfile chatting about GM and thought i'd start a thread.

I guess i'm interested to see the responses from people that would and wouldn't eat the products; especially as we are a 'healthy' bunch of sportspeople who care about our bodies...ahem.

For the record i'd happily eat GM products and am suprised how many people that are anti eat a lot of processed foods.

My feelings on it are that we have been doing it for a long time and people have only gotton jumpy about it as we can now do it faster.

We eat food?
Me I generally think it's tinkering for tinkerings sake.

Are these companies capable of thinking 500 years ahead?

I assume they are safe for me to eat. I worry about the effect on all the milllions of other species.

Given genetically modified foods have the potential to significantly lower starvation it's mind boggling to find that no one against them can think of any real reason not to grow them.

Wade through the BS and all they seem to come up with is 'no one knows what could happen'. When in fact humans have been genetically modifying plants and animals for 1000's of years?

Christ.

That idiot teenager was asked about how she felt about the introduction foreign genes into the food she will eat...

"...no, don't really know how this is an issue. Food is food...".

/paraphrasing/

Aaarrgghhh...

If I were cynical and calculating, I'd be rich beyond the dreams of avarice, when they're people like this bimbling around the planet's surface ready for exploitation.

It's been gentically modified for years anyway!

Seriously I would want the food tested for yrs before releasing it.

I wouldn't eat processed meat though.

Needs to be tested fully and they don't do this anymore.

Don't forget about the chemicals and pesticides etc.

We've ruined the food chain, doomed! nah not that bad but we need more safety rules.

If it's not toxic it's ok...Blinky the fish
