Hi all,

Anyone got a Genesis IO and done a bearing swap on the rear wheel? I've got the bearings all ready but not had a look at the wheel yet. So wanting to get some help before I have a look tomorrow.
If any ones done it, can/could you drift the bearings out by tapping the axle to push them out, or did you need a puller?
It's an 09 btw if that makes any difference.

Cheers.

Dead easy, pull the cover thingy off the axle wi' some pliers, non-drive side is easier, then just whack the exposed axle(carefully) and it'll drift out the bearing on the drive side, remaining bearing even easier.

Cheers badlydrawnbiker. A quick look when I removed the freewheel suggested it would be, but I'm at work now (clearly busy ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and didn't have time to investigate properly, so thought I have a quick check first.

If I get chance I'll take some pics and stick them in here.

Ok, just finished this, piece of cake really.

No pictures as i was feeling lazy in that respect, but tbh they're not needed.

For reference the bearings on my wheel (2009) are 6000 2RS, no doubt they all are.

1. Remove freewheel. (may not be needed but i had mine off for a change anyway)
2. Remove end caps. Drive side has a 2mm grub screw holding it on.
3. Tap axle from drive side until the non-drive side bearing falls out then repeat for the drive side.
4. Clean all surfaces up.
5. Using an 18mm socket knock the new drive side bearing back in. Fit the axle then knock the non-drive side bearing in.
6. Give the axle a light tap from both ends to seat everything right.
7. Refit end caps, freewheel etc.
8. Go ride!

All in it took about 15mins, with about 5 of that wrestling with the freewheel.

Hope that helps someone.
