Had forgotten this had started on Saturday.
Checked the tracker, am pretty unfamiliar with the route but was surprised how little distance they appeared to have covered? Maybe my expectations have been confused by Lachlan Morton's efforts last year, didn't he complete the route in 4 days?
Lachlan Morton was six days (from memory).
This year they have to carry all their food from the start, no resupply along the way.
Ah, yes, I did some more reading, didn't check who finished second but by all accounts his was a fast finish!
Shame, was planning to use part of the route north of Callander on Tuesday AM, thought I might be able to see some of them pass through.
Watched the dots approach the Quantocks this morning, but didn’t encounter anyone when I headed up there earlier (although I was mostly in the Combes rather than up on the Great Road)
I think Morton was approaching the 7 day mark. I never followed closely last year but by all accounts it's a tough ride.

It's pretty bonkers having to carry all your food, some of those gated fire roads in the Welsh forests will be right b'stids to get over with that additional weight!!!
Fancy another energy bar?
