In case anyone was planning to bask in our slightly-above-zero temperatures this weekend or next week, I had this from Woodland Riders the other day.
GAWTON DH IS CLOSED UNTIL SATURDAY 18th DECEMBEREmergency forestry work is being undertaken at Gawton DH this week and next week. Gawton DH is closed for the next two weeks. We should re-open on Saturday 18th December. Sorry for the short notice, but it all occurred very suddenly. Do not attempt to ride โ there may be trees and logging equipment blocking the tracks
Tavi Woodlands is open as normal
Sorry for any inconvenience

No idea what's behing the emergency logging. We have that tree-sickness elsewhere in Devon, but Gawton is also on a ridiculously steep valley side, and I could well imagine the snow/rain/freeze/thaw causing all sorts of wierdness.
The closure was so some larch trees could be removed before they got the tree-sickness. We're all fully open again now.
