Hi,

Is there a list of compatible lights that work with the the lighting controls on a garmin edge head unit?

I can only find info on garmin and bontrager lights.  Wondering if there are other compatible brands since being disappointed with bontrager RT long term battery life issues.

Thanks for the heads up, I just checked if it was compatible with my lupine lights, and I see there is a connect IQ store app to control them.

I had never even though about the possibility.

I've got a Varia and only recently realised that I can set it up auto start when an activity starts! And it hibernates when the activity stops. I never thought controlling lights from my head unit made sense, but it's so good!

My old Edge 810 sort-of works with my See.Sense Ace rear light. Only seems to work in constant mode though.

There was limitations with the see.sense (this is from a few years ago so may be fixed) but the edge could only control one light at a time. The cyclic fly 12 light  also could be controlled from the edge, similarly to above I think it may be on or off not the flash patterns.

It does work well with the varia though.

My lupine lights don't work, it seems it is only the 2023 lights that are compatible, and while I only bought them last month they were quite cheap so probably last years stock.

So it seems that pretty much need a "smart" light to work - pr varia or bontrager.

The Ion RTs are a great wee "be seen" light.  But after 18 months a full charge still brings up a low battery warning immediately - not sure how long they last as I now charge them after every ride.

Might have to go back to dumb lights and remember to switch them on myself...  First world problems.

I would second this, really rate mine and my mate says he could see me coming from a mile off when he was waiting for me. Not noticed any battery issues with mine but it only gets used on my once-a-week road ride.

I'm the sort of person who hates breaking up the clean lines of my road bike but its so small and light its almost impossible to justify not using it.

This is my second ion rt rear light - first one went the same way - and first front ion rt - has also gone the same way.

There's a theme.

I love them when they work.  Outstanding daytime running lights and like you say - They are tiny.

I have those Bontrager lights but don't bother connecting them to my garmin: I find it fiddly to adjust them on the move and prefer to just press the button on the light itself.
