HI

Recently purchased a edge 520 plus to use with trailforks.  Happy with it overall but would rather it didnt record vertical gain from the gondola, even when it is paused.  Is there a setting to turn this feature off?

My watch does not record when it is paused, so i presume there is a setting, just for the life of me cant find it!!

Thanks in advance

Surely it's just recording the height gained between the point you pause it (at the foot of the gondola) and that when you un-pause it (at the top of the gondola)?  Just record each downhill run separately.

That's not an issue specific to the Garmin, it's a Trailforks/Strava issue.

I found the same thing the other day when I was at BMCC in Wales, I recorded something like 7788ft of descents and only 148ft of climbing (because I paused it on the uplift), but when I uploaded to Strava it obviously just works out the altitude difference between the pause and un-pause locations and show altitude gain of nearly 8000ft accordingly.

It doesn't however show the route you took, just a straight line from pause to un-pause location.

Stop every lap... makes it easier to count laps though

If I'd done that on my trip to BMCC I'd have flooded my Strava feed with 17 separate rides when it came to upload time at the end of the day! 😮

It's OK, nobody was watching it anyway 🙂

Hey, my 36 followers would be outraged if I did such a thing! haha

Also I've found that re-starting a recording within proximity of a segment/trail sometimes leads to your GPS thinking you have immediately started the trail when you press 'Go'. Even though you may be 'behind' the start point, sometimes the brief period of inaccuracy when it fires up can be enough to give a false start location.

I dont think it is anything to do with strava or trailforks, as it works out the altitude gained before i have even uploaded it to any website, it shows on the garmin display as i am still riding.

Also dont want to do seperate rides as it will just flood my strava!

Thanks

Just load them up as private then no one gets flooded.

What if you turn if off for the uplift instead of pause?  If it's the same as my 520 (non-plus), when you turn it back on, the activity continues where you left off.  AFAIK, Strava will only "correct" elevtion if you tell it to.
