Stay with me on this one... 🙂
So we're doing a SDW tester ride this weekend, QECP to Cocking then back again to QECP.
Back in 2017 we did the full SDW, which obviously includes that segment within.
What i want to do is set us a 'pace' from 2017 for the section from QECP to Cocking which is the same as we did on that day... Is that possible ?
Or some other option ? Maybe if we say a 7mph average, can the Garmin do that ?
You can do it if QECP -> Cocking is a Strava segment which you've starred & put on the Garmin. Then you can choose to "race" against your previous effort. This is much better than the normal virtual partner stuff as it uses your actual timings along the segment rather than just averaging your speed along the whole way like the VP would. It means you can see where you're gaining/losing time vs your previous effort. From memory I think you have to be a Premium member to do this.

Ah..... and there's where it falls down.
Simpler than that, just create the route you’re doing as a course on connect or whatever course creator you use and set the speed you want.
I use bikehike normally - when you save the course as a file it asks you for the speed you want then I stick that on the garmin. Works perfectly that way.
It's £2.49 a month for this option, not gonna break the bank!! Plus it's really cool if you use Strava segments a lot. Saying that my membership lapsed ages ago 😂
yes, that works but it sucks for training (if that's the OPs intention) for the reason I mentioned!Simpler than that, just create the route you’re doing as a course on connect or whatever course creator you use and set the speed you want.
But first month on Strava is free, so join up and use the segment pacer and then cancel.

Just to set ourselves a target pace/speed based upon previous speed/times so we know we're ahead/behind for the SDW compared to 2017.
