A riding buddy of mine had a chain go over the cassette and into the wheel of his road bike at the weekend as he went up a hill. In the aftermath the mech was dragged into the rear wheel and ripped a spoke then looks like the mech has hit the frame on the way round.
He's took the bike back to the main dealer who are looking into if it's a warranty claim. It's only been used a handful of times and looked after, not abused etc.
The shop have said looks like the damage on the frame is structural even though from visual inspection doesn't look that bad, maybe just like a deep scratch on the non drive side wheel stay.
So my question is, if they throw out his warranty claim and he's left with the frame has anyone had a carbon wheel stay repair? Any idea on cost or any experience of the DIY carbon repair kits on here?
Thanks in advance

Even very serious damage to carbon frames can be repaired - the thing is though is it worth the cost.

Rob Hayles fixed two cracks in my carbon cross bike for a very reasonable amount - see re-carb on twitter: https://twitter.com/re_carb`

You'd never know there'd been a problem.

On the DIY front, a mate of mine fixed a problem on a Scott carbon that sounds identical to the OP's mate's issue using a DIY kit then raced the 3 Peaks on it a week later. It wasn't a pretty repair, but it didn't break. I'm not sure I'd have done that myself, but it worked.

Personally I'd happily get a repair done by someone with specialist knowledge without any qualms whatsoever.

Suprised if that'll be a warranty job, who did the pdi ? If the shop did it and the rear mech was adjusted properly then its been knocked and the hanger/mech bent.
I've used these guys, after painting the repair was invisible.
