[#678966]

Thinking about getting a Full Facer for a trip to Fort Bill/Lecht in 1 month.

Should I get my usual size i.e. 58cm or is Full Facer sizing different, i.e I am better off getting something slightly bigger/roomier?

Cheers

Could really do with trying some on surely? I don't think roomy is good though, you don't want it coming off in a crash.

try them on, preferably 5 or 6 different brands/models

You want one that hugs your whole head, without putting preasure on any part of it, and certainly no empty spaces.

Just becasue troy-lee costs mroe doesnt mean its the best for you, ditto cheep ones are no good if they dont fit.

try them on, my 661 full face is a large whereas by xc lid is a medium
also the sizing seems to vary more with the full face lids

Ditto, go to your LBS and ask to try on what they have. Don't do it via CRC as you can't try them on. You could find the size and model in the LBS and do it via CRC, but that's a bit cheeky.

Or just try on all your mates and see if any fit, then get one. Make sure you can't move around inside the helmet, that's bad.

I do recommend looking into the 661 full comp if it fits, a very popular helmet in our group. .

Cheers for advice.

Thinking about it, there was never going to be an easy answer, as there are obviously some many variables, i.e. peoples heads, different manufacturers, different helmets from the same manufacturer.

But was just trying to get a feel for whether certain makes are more renowned for being larger than others.

Unfortunately my LBS does not stock much in th way of Full Face Helmets, so may have to take a drive to somewhere that does.

As to the suggestion that I could try some on in the LBS and then buy online............... you should be ashamed. ๐Ÿ™„

different shell sizes and shapes fit different head sizes and shapes. Better getting a FF that is comfortable and fits. Definatley try before you buy.

dunno, i'd happily walk into an LBS,try on helemts, wait to be asked "can i help you" then ask for a price match against CRC etc.

Wouldnt be cheeky enough to go to the till and do it though.

Some come with extra pads that can be cut and fitted to tailor the sizing slightly. Look for those if you can't find one that feels great as is.

evans and leisurelakes both price match brilliant but if its a BIG match you need proof. I definitely recommend trying all helmets on tho, when i chose mine for xmas i tried on loads and despite similar 'sizing' they're all totally different.
