Looking on FSAs website it seems a bit confusing - all their chainsets seem to need slightly different mega exo bbs which seems a bit crazy.

Am I misreading their description as specific c/sets need specifc bbs or is that just the 'level' of bb they are recommending for said chainset?

And can I just bang in a Shimano/Hope one quite happily?

Just debating pros and cons of a new chainset purchase.

Ta.

My FSA Afterburner MegaExo plays quite happily with ordinary BBs - currently using a Superstar one that was spare, have also used one from a Shimano LX. There was a thread on here recently about Hope compatibility with FSA being an issue though - best to ask Hope about that. Worth looking into this as the FSA one that came with my BB lasted about 2 rotations before seizing (I exaggerate for effect but you get the idea).

Most FSA cranksets use a tapered spindle so you can't use them with any other bottom bracket other than the one made for it.

Alot of people will force the wider end in to a ShimanoBB but you'll end up with a faulty bottom bracket very quickly.
