Slashed a pair of Rocket Rons over 2 weekends so decided to try something slightly beefier for my long training rides on my 29er HT. I ordered a pair of X-king 2.2 protections from Bike Discount.
Rear went up a treat but it looks like a winter tyre width with summer tread which really pisses me off. Bike Discount will take the other back despite being out of the return period. I'm after a tougher Nobby Nic type in true 2.25 for the front now it's winter. Does the 2.4 Mountain King Protection measure up to that?
Don't know about the 2.4 but I'm running a 2.2 MKII ProTection on front with a 2.2 X-King on the rear and I'm happy with them as a pair on my 29er HT. Both running tubeless.
X-King and Mountain King 2 both have the same size (about 0.2" undersized) carcasses.
