My Trance has 38/24 chainrings and an SLX derailleur (FD-M675). Shimano say the max capacity is 14t but I'd like to swap the 24 for a 22.
Has anyone tried similar?
I know Shimano are fairly conservative with their rear derailleur specs.

Not quite the same but I found an Ultegra front derailleur coped fine with running a 52-34 combination rather than the specified 16t gap (52-36 or 50-34).

Bloody forum.
Just wrote a long response and lost it.
I've done it a couple of times, once on XT11 with an FS XC bike and once on a HT (same mech as you)
First one rubbed in the stand on little ring and smaller sprockets, fine while riding. Second one needed some finessing, but worked fine for several years.
