Possible noob question . looking at buying a new front derailer.
What is the differnce between a Top swing and conventional models ?

Top swing has the cage(the metal plates that go either side of the chain)pivoting above the mounting clamp, bottom swing has it below. This is not to be confused with bottom or top pull, which is referring to the direction the gear cable operates the mech(modern mechs are often dual pull anyway, so will work regardless).Top or bottom swing fitment is often governed by the type of frame you have, and the clearances that it gives the mech to operate.
