Unloaded my bike on Sunday for a ride and noticed that the freehub wasn't engaging consistently. Every now and then it doesn't engage until maybe a quarter turn. I didn't actually notice it much when out and riding but something is obviously up. I don't really know anything about these or how they work so am I looking at a new hub/freehub body or could a good internal clean re-grease sort it out?
What hubs are you using?
Its more than likely that a new complete free hub or even some spares (ie: Hope) if avalible will sort it
Oh yeah, forgot that its a Shimano FHM525 - can pick up whole thing for £20
That'll do just nicely, easy to sort and cheap too.
Update on this, got a new complete hub which was cheaper complete than the body on its own, freehub seemed good on the new one as expected. Replaced freehub body onto existing wheel and same problem still, not engaging instantly every time. Any suggestions? Didn't really want to get involved in taking apart the whole wheel.
