ect. On a frame costing $2000

Think it is about 15%, was the last time I did it in 2006 (eBay USA purchase), apparently higher than watches.

VAT, plus about 4% I think on bike parts - plus handling charge from the carrier (say a tenner or so)

IME

(google "duty calculator" or something like that)

Vat at 20% (frame plus postage plus insurance)
Duty at 4%
Postage charge
Handling charge (£20 or so)

Allow £400 or thereabouts?

Before you get your hopes up, a lot of companies won't post frames to the UK.
Also, unless it's greatly reduced or something you can't buy over here, I wouldn't bother. The charges often haven't been worth it. I've bought quite a bit from the US, the last few bits only being things that I couldn't get over here.
