Got go ahead from mrs Carbon to get some new wheels for xmas - about £300
I ride quite steep technical natural trails and things like FT William red and occasional forays on DH runs. Rarely do XC day slogs to be honest - occasionally GT red is my most XC day.
15st all equipped and on a 2010 five running Lyriks at 160.
I was all set on some white flows on red pro 2s to replace my xm317 but spotted some FR2350 in the classifieds. Are these so much more burely and heavier than the Flows? Overkill?
Answer- the ones in the classifieds are 150mm rear axle.
Doesn't the '2350' part in the nomenclature indicate their weight in grams? If so, quite apart from them being the wrong dimension, then they would be about a pound heavier than the equivalent Flow wheels. Flows should be up to the job you describe. I've run mine very happily around the Alps, including Chamonix root and rock fests as well as Gawton and other DH courses. I wouldn't use them on a DH bike but for a burly AM bike on this terrain they are fine.
