About 20 years ago I acquired a Fox vanilla RX rear shock. I have never had a bike to fit it on but I have now. The shock has been sitting around and has no pressure in chamber. I have never had much to do with rear shocks and I cant find much out about it on the web, Only that it could be a NOS shock I guess this means it is filled with nitrogen. Can I fill it with air with a pump? as air is 80% nitrogen or has it got to be nitrogen. If anybody knows anything about these shocks I would be interest as was told it was the Mutts when I was given it.

Thanks in advance

It'll need a needle valve to pump it up, and the oil will be in a state meaning you'll just have a squelchy mess even if you do get any gas into the chamber

How old are we talking here? One of these ones?

Hi Legend,
Over 20 years I would have said. I used to be on a Marin Quake I was given the frame as it was cracked to do up if I wanted.
It looks very similar to the one in the picture but has what looks like a standard mountain bike valve in the chamber.
