Fox Thru Axle lever...

[Closed] Fox Thru Axle lever problem

Forks are Fox CTD 32with  the thru axle with the adjustment on the opposite side to the lever.. When I went to take the wheel off to get bike back in the car yesterday the lever unscrewed leaving the axle in place. The lever is threaded, nothing looks sheared -it maybe has blue locktite that has failed?

Any ideas appreciated. Or suggestions for who best to take this to in the Stirling area?

Mmmhhh.

Never took a fox axle apart. There is this lever / quick release thing - and this came off in your case...

My guess - but not sure: the axle is hollow. If you stick a hex key in from the "non lever side" - are you able to engage a "nut" and then screw the "lever" from the other side in again? My guess: there is some sort of nut in the inside (part of the "internal" quick release).

Would try this. Also some very long hex keys might be necessary...

Rough, rough guessing...

Thanks for the thoughts andreas.

What I have is the lever which has about 20mm of 4mm bolt. This screws back into a threaded end on the thru bolt. But immediately just unscrews again. I don't see any nut or any other retention in there tho there is a narrowing at the end of the thread om the lever side.  I have just been speaking to Silverfish who were pretty helpful tho I'm not sure entirely understood my fault. They suggest that the axle is fubarred.  I did at least manage to get it out easily just using a screwdriver in the non lever end. But to be honest I'm not at all sure what is wrong with it. I could fix it back in with Loctite but maybe that is not the best idea for riding.

I'll have another look tomorrow. They are stupidly expensive to replace and aren't currently showing up as stock.

Anyone got a 2015 axle for the Trek offset fox fork going free? well not free - but not in use!

Is there a small silver pin that goes through it? Don’t have my axle to hand but thought there was something similar on the fox ones? Might have come dislodged

No sign of a pin tony. Nor any hole for it to through. One of the Silverfish guys did mention a cotter pin but then decided that was a different fork. It wasn't on his spares list for this fork.

Tried to google an assembly drawing.

No success.

(Guess you did the same already...)

Yes - these things are extremely expensive - and I'am sure Fox would try to fix the axle for free.

But it's summer time and you need your bike NOW...

I too am gonna guess that the retaining pin/bolt within the head - lever end has just come loose over time.

I had this on a set of Bos Dizzy forks which    was fine, just needs to be properly checked when installing.

As I’m not running Fox, I can only draw a conclusion that it is a similar issue.

:/
