[Closed] Fox RP3 Air Sleeve Service - what am I doing wrong?

Following the instructions but when it comes to retightening the air sleeve I just cannot push it far enough on to get the threads aligned (not even close).

I guess this is because of air pressurised between the two seals as I shove the sleeve on? Even if I get it one, won't I be effectively creating a 'suck down' shock?

Any tips?

I've heard that if you wind the rebound adjuster fully off (or is it fully on?) then it makes it easier.

have you got the Pro-Pedal on?

If so, switch it off

wind the rebound to it's slowest setting.

should be a doddle then.

I think, to get my fox float air sleave back onto the thread, I had to put the shock back onto the bike frame and compress the suspension (ie more leverage).

Fox suggest putting it back on the bike to compress it so the air sleeve can be fitted easily.

If the above suggestions don't work for you - try one of these

Shock back in bike will make it a doddle!

Lock out or propedal needs to be off or at its softest.

It's easily doable by hand. IIRC just push the bare shock to it's shortest length before you slip the sleeve on. This means that the air chamber is at it smallest BEFORE you start compressing it by putting the sleeve on, making it pretty easy.

I think that was it, could be the other way round though... (i.e. extend the bare shock fully)

Thought before brawn.....
😉

Despite all the handy tips above, I've always just put some weight behind it and it's gone on OK.
