I think this has been asked before but I've had no luck with the search facility.
Does anyone know where I can get a 6 point 26mm socket for removing the top cap on a Fox fork?
Ebay
Halfords?
The 6 point bit is slightly irrelevant. I use a boggo 12 point/bi hex, ground down so there's no bevel on the lip of the socket. Works lovely. The top caps aren't done up tight, so you don't need much leverage.
Thanks for the info, everyone.
A big adjustable wrench works fine also.
As stated above, torque is minimal.
Bought a std 6 point socket (draper i think) and carefully ground it down so it has a flat rather than bevelled edge.
The main reason for the flat surface is to ensure the socket grips the fork as much as possible, reducing the change of rounding the head of the part.
You'll be lucky to find a 26mm on the shelf, its a bit of an odd size!
alternatively look out at autojumbles for 1" AF which works well
