Helllllloooooo!

Has anyone any good experiences or info on how to reduce travel on a fox 36 van r? Can you buy reduced length springs from anywhere? I would ideally like to drop em to 140 ish?

Cheers

I could be wrong but I don't think you can reduce the travel on van 36's. Check the fox website, their guides on there are pretty thorough.

buy one of the springs i saw on classifieds yesterday and set to it with a hacksaw.

You can get 20mm spacers (so you'd need 3 spacers to lose 60mm of travel). I'm sure mojo will have them in stock.
1. undo the nut on the bottom of the the left hand leg (undo it about 3mm and the tap it with a soft hammer, then undo it all the way).
2. undo the left hand top cap and remove spring.
3. drain any oil that's left (most of it should have drained in step 1)
4.remove the plunger, it should just fall out of the top when the forks are upside down.
5.place spacers below the head of the plunger and put back into foks (this may be tricky and time consuming).
6.pour fork oil through the hole in the bottom of the leg (fox website will have amounts)
7.place spring back into leg (you will need to chop the spring down a bit to allow you to get the top cap back on).
8.put top cap back on and tighten, screw the nut back onto the bottom of the fork leg.

For the spring, take a bit off at a time until it fits properly (you should have to compress the spring ever so slightly to get the top cap on). Once you have cut the spring try and flatten of the spring as much as you can.

cheers wysiwyg, do I need to do anything special to flatten the tops of the spings off after I cut them? What do you think about putting a fox 32 spring in there and then the spacers? Same thing just shorter?

Well you will need to heat it a tad so you can bend it flatter, then ideally a grinder or dremel to flatten the top of the final coil off.

I dont see why not tbh as long as the length is the same as the travel youre looking for, but as theyre adjustable travel it may be longer than you think..
