As per title, on the brink of committing to buying some Fox 36 Float 160's
Are these the best choice for a lightweight-ish 160mm fork?
(I know the Bos Deville's are considered 'better' by some, but they're a bit pricey...)
Having owned both deville's are a lot better. So much so I had to buy some idylle's for my dh bike to replace the 40's too.
Slightly better dampening on the Deville's, but overall I prefered the Floats.
I much prefer the Van over the Float, esp now the Float is only RLC, not RC2. Well worth the slight weight penalty IMO.
What doof doof said it's only 290g difference
When I got my Float RC2 a year ago I was blown away by how good they were, they now badly need a service and do not feel as good as the Deville's I just tested. The Deville also has a slightly different more damped/controlled feeling which I liked.
I prefered the Float to the Van... I found the Van wallowed more whereas the Float... er... Float-ed.
I quite liked the Marz 55 RC3 Ti I had a shotty of but there was the usual Marz top-out-clunk which bugs me... but I would love a more in-depth play with them.
Lyrik's I would like to try.
What would I currently buy if I had the cash? Deville's in 170mm flavour with tapered steerer and a matching VIPr rear shock.
I swapped my 2011 floats for bos devilles. IMO night and day difference. Search my history for a recent thread on the subject. Bos are marginally cheaper too
My cat prefers the Floats.
Swapped to Lyriks because after 10 months of TLC the Fox stanchions still ended up with wear marks resulting in new CSU ! ๐ Can't understand why people rave about them to high maintenance for my liking .
