Cant find a service manual for the above forks. I can find one for 32's, 34's, and 36's but not 34 SC which has recessed lower leg bolts/nuts. Anyone have a link to one? Or does anyone know the following?

1. What size socket do I need for the air side lowers? Its recessed too far to meassure.

2. How do I remover the rebound knob? Its about 80mm long.

3. What size nut/bolt is under the rebound knob?

Thanks!

Try this. Says he'll do an extra step about removing the air side to check the oil so maybe skip though till you find that.

Watched the vid. What a convoluted process.

Note to self. Avoid step cast fox forks 😕

@mjsmke

Apologies but do you have the link to the service manual for the 32 stepcast? I can't find it and I'm trying to decide whether to buy a bike with them!

Not sure I've actually seen a manual with service procedures for my 34SC, so it's possible there isn't one...

Fox website has bath oil specifications and quantities.

The procedures are basically the same as non-SC, it's just that the recessed bits make life more awkward.

Things you'll need - thin-wall and slightly deeper 10mm socket fits both sides. I'd strongly recommend getting an aftermarket damper removal tool to screw on.

Be aware that you need 2x the smaller crush washers rather than one big and one small (don't know if this is an issue on the 32, but certainly is on the 34).

Refilling the oil is fiddly and potentially messy unless you have a small syringe or a bit of tubing to pop down and into the hole.

I don't know if SC forks require it but when I had to service a Reba with a deeply recessed bolt, I had to buy a box spanner which is long and thin walled. I hadn't heard of one before but it did the job perfectly where a socket set wouldn't fit.
