Didn't seem to be this much fuss at STW towers for Dalby XC World Cup and that was almost at the front door whereas Bill is a good drive away. Why? Is STW turning MBR or is it just so they can get a "big" road trip in?

Personally even though downhill is generally more exciting I still have far more in common with XC racing so disappointed that this didn't get the same sort of hype. IME.

And having seen the Eurosport coverage of Dalby I thought the racing was interesting and it was a superb course.

Just my penny worth.

You may find XC more exciting, but for the masses DH is the stuff to watch. So from a purely business point of view it makes more sense to do a feature on that. And I'm pretty confident the STW individuals also find DH more exciting to watch and would like to go there whether it was "for work" or not.
