Hi All,
I have just done the deal and bought myself a mint ML7/5 frame as an upgrade from my trusty Palomino.

I have been using Maverick DUC32s on the Klein and love them, but last week I rode my friends Ransom down the gulley at Swinley a few times and couldn't believe how stiff his Talas 36s felt compared with mine and how much more accurately they tracked etc.

I mainly do trail riding with a little bit of arsing around on small jumps and obviously the DUC32s are a great fork and suit the ML7/5 well, but change is always good, so what alternatives could I look at to give me 140mm+ of travel but be similar weight (sub 4lbs)?

Haven't ridden anything else and don't know anything about the current lineups of the main manufacturers, so any advice greatly appreciated!

Get some Talas 36s then? Or whatever the new Fox equivalent is. Mine were great on my palomino till i trashed them 🙁

I think they are probably overkill for what I need to use them for, and I don't think I would ever used the adjustable travel facility?

They are also fapping expensive!! Wouldn't really want to spend more than I could sell my DUC32s for (£200 or so I would guess).

depending on how much travel you want, id say revelations are a good bet - would have to be second hand though.

i got my 09 revs from merlin a while back for £270, 140mm travel - and they are great - i'd recommend them to anyone

I don't think there's anything 140mm travel sub 4lbs apart from the DUC, is there?

DT maybe? But they have their own problems.

Revelations look like a good option - will they be much stiff than the DUCs do you know?

I use DUC32's, had some SC'swhen I got the frame and it felt way too low at the front, feels just right with 140mm+ IMO. I am happy to have the lower weight of the DUC's ratyherthan the increased stiffness and weight of some 36's though.

It has been said before but no full sus climbs like a Mav

I very nearly bought a Santa Cruz Blur LT but it was the climbing ability of the Maverick that swung me this way having had a Palomino for the last 3 years.

Maybe I'll just get the DUCs serviced and see how I get on with them! You know what it's like though when you fancy a change!!

I don't know what the clearances are like on the 7.5 but when I tried to stick some Revelations on my ML7, the fork adjusters fouled the downtube on full lock, so I'd do some research before springing for anything. May not be an issue with the 7.5, but check with Mavercick or mayeb Tim Sideways to make sure.
