I've put a pretty bad scrape on mine, but all superficial so it should be suitable for repair.
Has anyone used the SendHit repair kit, or any similar options? How did you find it?
It's not cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than new stanchions - and I will get my money's worth with the extent of the damage to mine.
I have had better success with the sendhit kit on deeper marks. On damage that's not very deep, its not been that great.
also found that on the slight damage the colour kit you chose doesn't really matter. I think its because there isn't enough thickness there to make a visible difference. i.e. the black kit will look clear.

Interesting, mine do have proper scratches rather than just scuffs - but are not dented / badly gouged.
Cheers thenorthwind - I may try the nail varnish linked on your thread actually.
I have used the kit and would again. My results are good enough that the stantion seems functionally fine and the repair is doing OK a year in. I can feel the mark running a fingernail over it so it's not perfect, but I see no dirt getting in when I take the lowers off and no seal damage so it seems to be doing its job. I have also since sent the fork for service, and chatting with them on the phone about my repair they felt it'd do the job well enough (and the alternative was horrendously expensive and with a long lead time for parts). I do occasionally wonder about sanding and filing it back and refilling to see if I can get a better job but thus far I haven't got round to it.
My scratch is a pretty nasty looking run of little scratches down most of the length of the exposed stantion, some deep, most not. Bike slid down a rock I leant it up against badly in a car park while sorting kids out. Foolish and very irritating. I used the clear kit on a black stantion, because that's what was available at the time. But I didn't much care about the cosmetic side of the repair anyway.
Will stanchion boots make a reappearance ?
